| Changing Money. Easy and fast. Kuta has a great number of banks and moneychangers. Most moneychangers are opened daily, usually until late at night. Rates differ. Post Offices. The Kuta Post Off-ice is located at .Jl. Tuban, but a number of postal agents are springing up nowadays. Thy sell stamps, handle shipments and provide courier services. A convenient one is located on Jl Legian /Seminyak. south of Jl Dhyanapura between the supermarket and Mahogany Tape's.
Telephone. Kuta has at least six wattles (Warung telekomunikasi ) from which you ran call directly to most countries around the world. A sign behind the counters display countries and rates (add 10% tax). Open daily from 8 am to 11 pm. The most convenient ones are: JI Legian (between Jl. Padma and Jl.Melasti), open till 11 pm; Jl. Melasti in the Orchid Garden Complex; Jl. Kartika Plaza. The one in the Peanut Complex on, Jl Kuta-Legian is no use at night, due to the noise.
An alternative to the Warttles are the new "business-centers" that charge slightly more. Look for the IDD signs. Another popular place, also for taxes, is Rudi's Business Centre, opposite Benny's Cafe II on Jl Dhyanapura in Seminyak.
Cassette Tapes. Cassette shops are found all over Kuta. The best selection is at Mahogany, J1. Raya Seminyak (730678), in Seminyak, Wana, the owner, is always well informed about latest releases. Good traditional and ethnic music, along with the latest releases can he found at Disc Tara in the lower level of Matahari Shopping Center in central Kuta.
Duty Free Goods One of Asia's largest duly free shops, DF'S Bali Galleria, is at the major intersection into Kuta, off Jl. Bypass Ngurah Kai (758875). Plaza Bali, catering to an Asian market, also is on the Bypass (753301). Both sell branded goods, perfumes, cameras, liquors, etc.
Film Processing. The Fuji Image Plaza on Jl. Kuta Raya, across from Gelded and nearby Kodak, Jl. Kuta Raya 106D, are major processors. For camera repairs go to Prima Photo on Jl. Gajah Mada in Denpasar (222505). Instant processing and printing shops are scattered throughout Kuta.
Horse Riding. Riding along Seminyak beach at sunset is worth the back pain. Go to Jl. Abimanyu and park by the Mesari Hotel (730401, 751401). Look for the stable in the small lane starting on Jl. Abimanyu leading up to Jl. Legian. The horses are healthy and two ponies plus experienced supervisors are available for children. Umalas Stable, Lestari 9X in Kerobokan ( 731402) is a professional stable with trainers and lessons, offering one to three hour beach and rice field rides.
Massages. Lots of ladies offer massages on the beach. Although they may not be as good as the ones you can get in Denpasar, most travelers report that it feels good. Massage on Bali has nothing to do with sex. The local euphemism for the latter is “jiggy-jig”.
For a professional salon-style massage in nice surroundings, try Bodyworks, Jl. Raya Seminyak 63 (730454) or Milano , Jl. Sriwijaya 14 (761187). Call ahead for an appointment.
Supermarkets. Geleria Dewata is next to the gas station on Jl. Kuta Raya. This is the place for imported foodstuffs, toiletries and drinks at reasonable prices. It also has a newsstand, a bakery and fast food outlets. In Kuta proper, there is the Kuta Supermarket on Jl. Bakungsari (751966) and the Alas Arum Supermarket (751705, 733133) on Jl. Raya Seminyak with a similar range of items and some spirit sales by the bottle. Service is slow, but the assortment is wide. also open at night. Next door is the new Bintang Supermarket (730552). K Market Convenience Stores, open around the clock, carry essentials at outlets in Jl. Seminyak, , Jl. Melasti, Jl. Panlai Kuta, Jl. Legian, JI. Gang Poppies, and Jl. Bakungsari.
