OGOH OGOH
To welcome the Balinese Hindu Nyepi (Day of Silence), Balinese people create ogoh ogoh. Ogoh-ogoh are large scary creatures like devils, vampires and giants. They are created as a symbol of devil since the meaning of silence day is to purify the souls from the evils. Anyhow in modern times, people designate and create "corrupt persons" as ogoh-ogoh.
During silence day, people are not allowed to speak in big voice, do any work, turn on the lights at night or turn on TV. They just stay at home and are not allowed to walk out of the gate.
